Unless you’ve been living under an anti-Hallmark rock lately, you’ll know tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. The day that places people into two categories 1. The lovey dovey “my boyfriend/girlfriend is better than yours, but let me just casually Intagram this.” Or 2. The I’m-miserable/gonna-die-alone/don’t-even-care-about-Valentine’s-Day person. Let’s face it, whether single or in a relationship, WE CARE. But, there is no reason to mope around all day when music can easily substitute as a bouquet of flowers.
So, if you’re going to be with someone tomorrow who doesn’t
necessarily make you want to gouge your eyes out, start your day
off with the lovely Yuna’s cover of Frank Oceans “Thinking About You.” Since Mr. Ocean is after all our
generations "baby-makin music," you’ll definitely start the day off in the right mood. If you want a little bit more of an
upbeat sound check out Brooklyn’s Friends remixed version of their hit
“I’m His Girl” by Aluna George.
And for the second group of Valentiner’s, instead of locking yourself away in your room and blasting Adele or watching Sleepless in Seattle as you cry yourself to sleep, try starting the day off with one of my favorite Lykke Li songs “Dance Dance Dance” remixed by Buraka Som Sistema. Or if you're feeling a little bit more on the rock side, get yourself some "pizza and a bottle of wine" and jam out to the classic Girls hit "Lust for Life." This Valentine’s Day just remember whether you’re single or in a relationship, the love of music will never disappoint.
